Bioshock 2 multiplayer emerges


2K Games Reveals First Details of the BioShock® 2 Multiplayer Experience

Digital Extremes tapped to create extensive and exciting multiplayer element for 2K Games’ highly anticipated shooter

New York, NY – May 8, 2009 – 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it has signed a partnership with Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer experience for BioShock® 2. Under this partnership, Digital Extremes is working closely with the creative team at 2K Marin to develop a new and substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock universe.

“The fans asked for a multiplayer experience and we answered,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “With Digital Extremes delivering a multiplayer experience for BioShock 2 that features all of the things that make BioShock unique, we’re holding ourselves to a high standard so that we can deliver the depth and variety that fans of the BioShock universe demand.”

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 provides a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

· Evolution of the genetically enhanced shooter – Earn experience points during gameplay to earn access to new Weapons, Plasmids and Tonics that can be used to create hundreds of different combinations, allowing players to develop a unique character that caters to their playing style.

· Extend the Rapture fiction – Players will step into the shoes of Rapture citizens and learn more about the fall of Rapture as they progress through the experience.

· See Rapture before the fall – Experience Rapture before it was reclaimed by the ocean and engage in combat over iconic environments in locations such as Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, all of which have been reworked from the ground up to deliver a fast-paced multiplayer experience.

· FPS veterans add their touch to the multiplayer experience – Digital Extremes brings more than 10 years of first person shooter experience including development of award-winning entries in the Unreal® and Unreal Tournament® franchise.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes for PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows-based PC. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

If you are one of the many War Plan Pacific players suffering from PBEM dysfunction, that dreaded affliction in which the desire to play opponents via email cannot be realized, it is time to rejoice and end the suffering! KE Studios, developer of the hit title, has just made available version 1.0.3 of War Plan Pacific which includes a brand new way to play the game against others: PBEM!

PBEM (Play By E-Mail) allows games to be played out at your leisure, without the need for syncing up a time to sit down and play with your opponent. War Plan Pacific was already the perfect strategic wargame for the gamer on the go, and now with the additional PBEM support it becomes even more busy gamer friendly! Just be warned, while the 1.0.3 patch cures players of PBEM dysfunction it does increase the likelihood of prolonged usage of War Plan Pacific, which if lasting for more than four hours at a time can lead to angry spouses, sleeping on the couch, and missed social events. But really don't worry, because it's well worth it.

It should be noted that to accommodate PBEM play certain gameplay elements have been modified when playing by PBEM. They include a modification to reaction movement and setting aggressiveness for groups arriving at their destinations since combat on the battle board is handled entirely by the computer. SOUTHWEST VIDEO GAME EXPO POSTPONED

Dallas - May 1, 2009 - The Southwest Video Game Expo (SWGE) today announced it would be postponed due economic reasons. The show was to be the largest event of its kind in the Southwest showcasing new games for the holiday season from all the major publishers. This expo was to be held at the Dallas Convention Center from November 20-22, 2009. However with recent events forcing publishers to limit their budgets the management reconsidered SWGE's ability to put on the kind of show people would be excited to attend. The new video footage showcases The United States, from sea to shinning sea. The epic scale of Heart of Iron 3 is revealed in these shots of the United States. Should the war ever reach the coasts of the United States, the Hearts of Iron 3 map is ready to provide an environment for the war to progress on. Hearts of Iron III is now in the Beta stage of development. Over the past few months, the team has been stabilizing the foundations of the AI, tightening up the rules and mechanics of the game, along with implementing brand new artwork and interface features.

As of last night ChaseTheChuckwagon.com has acquired competing video gaming auction site GameGavel.com. Jasen Hicks, the owner of GG has not been able to give the attention needed to keep his site going in the direction he wanted so we negotiated a buy out of his domain name. In a few days GameGavel.com will be redirected to ChaseTheChuckwagon.com and his website will be shut down. It is my intention to continue co-branding both names, so pick the name you like and go with it. This should also go along way to bringing in a more diverse group of gamers, as GameGavel.com is a more "universal" name than ChaseTheChuckwagon.com.

For all existing ChaseTheChuckwagon.com members this is a very good thing as we will reap the benefits of 15 months of GameGavel.com links and threads floating around the net that will now point to us. I am hoping this will help aid our growth and continue our efforts to become the best place to buy and sell games.
